“The guitarist formerly known as one of Boston’s eloquent inside players has become one of its leading experimenters,” explains the Boston Phoenix’s Jon Garelick, who included Garrison’s “Variable Density Sound Orchestra” on his best of 2009 list.

Garrison Fewell, a professor at Berklee College of Music since 1977, has toured the globe for more than 30 years as one of the jazz world’s premier performer/educators. Fewell’s music showcases the melodic accessibility and sturdy framework of his compositions as well as the unbridled freedom of free improvisation.

“As a mainstay in Boston’s jazz scene, saxophonist Charlie Kohlhase has helped cultivate the city as one of America’s most fertile hotbeds for creative music”. John Murphy, Jazz Times Magazine.

Jerry Sabatini earned a Masters Degree in Contemporary Improvisation as a trumpet performance major from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 2009. He studied jazz, world and experimental improvisational music, personal style, and composition with Ran Blake, Anthony Coleman, Peter Row.

This concert is funded in part by the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

WCUW 91.3 is the proud recipient of a 2011 Worcester Cultural Commission Arts Lottery grant. This funding will allow WCUW 91.3 to continue presenting “low-cost” concerts in our FRONTROOM as well as at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Alden Hall
